Need To Know: Valencia CF vs. Getafe CF
Highest possession since March
On Matchday 5, against CD Leganés at Mestalla, Valencia CF enjoyed 62.4% possession. Control of the ball is one of coach Albert Celades' favoured strategies, and the percentage was the highest for the team since their March meeting with this week's opponents, Getafe CF. That day, Valencia CF had 64.7% possession.
Guedes' disallowed goal
Gonçalo Guedes put the ball into the net in the last meeting between the two sides, but his strike was disallowed for offside against Kevin Gameiro. The Portuguese will be looking to put things right on Tuesday night.
Jason and Maksimovic in the squad for Getafe
Two players with a history at Valencia CF are in the Getafe squad for the Wednesday night fixture. Nemanja Maksimovic has become an important player in Pepe Bordalas' plans, having completed a permanent move to Getafe in the summer after a loan spell there. Jason Remeseiro is currently on loan to Getafe from Valencia CF, and curiously could play his first game at Mestalla today. He played in the games against Real Betis and Mallorca.
The second oldest team in LaLiga
Getafe CF are a side with several experienced veterans in their ranks. They have the second highest average age in all of LaLiga (28.6 years), behind only SD Eibar (29.8). Jorge Molina, who finished the 2018/19 season with 16 goals to his name, is one of the standouts of the side, aged 37. He scored last season at Mestalla in the Copa del Rey quarter final second leg.
